Descrizione: As a supervising veterinarian (practioner) the candidate will monitor food safety and animal welfare. This includes ensuring compliance in abattoirs, animal transport, import and export certification of products with animal origin. Tha candidate will supervise with an emphasis on prcedural supervision and enforcement, taking appropriate measures where necessary. He will also advise on the implementation of laws and regulations.
Depending on workload, the ideal candidate will be deployed to smal, medium and large abattoirs (red meat and/or poultry). He also visit primary companies, export collection centers and cold stores.
Official veterinarians, are present during processing of animals presented for slaughter. They carry out a range of duties, including ante – adn – post-mortem checks and checks on the health and welfare of animals presented for slaughter. These official control duties ensure thet food business operators have produced meat in accordance with regulatory requirements, with a health mark applied to show that meat is safe to enter the food chain. The NVWA is a government organization and has a dedicated team of trained and skilled veterinary auditors who carry out compliance audits on a scheduled (announced) basis.
Tipo di contratto: Temporary contract for 1 year with the possibility of extension (to a permanent employment), excellent salary (based on 30 hours/week) and secondary terms of employment; trainign (partly on the job) with company’s clients; sipport at housing; support at madatory registration in Dtch veterinary register (CIBG); discount on a collective health insurance plan; use of a company car (after completing the Dutch course successfully). The company offers an intensive Ditch language course aimed at achieving level B2, a requirement for entering the substantive training programme. A basic test and an assessment (both in English) are part of the selection procedure. Start of this vacancy is April 2019.
Requisiti: For this position are required that the ideal candidate: is legally qualified veterinarian and his/her diploma is recognized by the Dutch Veterinary Register, in compliance with the relevant European Directives; has previous experience as a veterinarian or within the sector is preferred; is Fluent in speaking and writing English; has excellent written andverbal communication skills and ability to quickly learn spoken and written Dutch; displays strong business acumen and prioritizes effectively and makes decisions quickly when necessary; consistently embodies the NVWA’s mission and values; is self-confident and performs well under pressure; has a valid driving licence; is willing to move to The Netherlands.
